Nuweba introduced FaaStest.com and FaaSbenchmark, allowing the serverless community to see the results of performance tests on different serverless platforms and open-sourcing it for everyone to add tests (read more about it here).
Performance improvements for VPC-connected functions - Lambda uses a new type of elastic network interface that is shared by all functions in a virtual private cloud (VPC) subnet. When you connect a function to a VPC, Lambda creates a network interface for each combination of security group and subnet that you choose. When the shared network interfaces are available, the function no longer needs to create additional network interfaces as it scales up.
Increased concurrency for stream event sources - A new option for DynamoDB stream and Kinesis stream event source mappings enables you to process more than one batch at a time from each shard. When you increase the number of concurrent batches per shard, your function's concurrency can be up to ten times the number of shards in your stream.
AWS Lambda announced Provisioned Concurrency in re:invent - Provisioned concurrency enables a function to scale without fluctuations in latency.
AWS announce HTTP APIs for API Gateway - delivering enhanced features, improved performance, and an easier developer experience for customers building with API Gateway.
AWS introduce RDS Proxy, a fully managed, highly available database proxy for Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS).
Azure Functions 3.0 go-live release - making it possible to build and deploy 3.0 functions in production. Functions 3.0 brings new capabilities including the ability to target .NET Core 3.1 and Node 12 (Is it really ready for production? read about it here).
